**One-sample test of variance**

The one-sample test of variance performs a chi-square test under the hypothesis that the data of sample 1 come from a normal distribution with a known variance (sample 2). If the variances are unequal, the null hypothesis (variance of sample 1 is equal to variance of sample 2) is rejected.

**Two-sample F-test**

The two-sample F-test of variance is performed to test the hypothesis that two independent samples come from normal distributions with the same variance, against the alternative that they come from normal distributions with different variances.

**F-statistic and p-value**

The p-value is derived from the F-statistic score by making use of the F cumulative distribution function.
